Wouldn't be the first time there's been conflicting information in VXs service data. It appears to be luck of the draw whether you hit the latest information or something that has been superceded. The much-mooted 80K cam belt change interval being one example.  ;)

I shouldn't think anything catastrophic will happen anyway, and I think it was only one version of GM Dex III that prompted the change, so anything else is probably perfectly OK.

Just been looking in TIS and EPC, only references to Dex 2 and 3 in there.

Not saying you are wrong by any means....but with my experience of dealers, I would want more than 1 persons word for it.

Look at the web sites I have given Jimbob :y :y

Ive had a good read, was just trying to confirm in TIS.

Also found it stange, that although a 2006 product, it isnt in my 2008 EPC.

Ive been using the Fuchs Dex 2 and 3 from OPIE, with good results.

I would really like to find some more official data on it.
Will have a word next time im at the dealer.

Be interesting if Mark can get any info out his Dad as well.

Yes Jimbob, the more info we can all get on this one the better I believe.  :y :y ;)

I'll try my Vx dealer again tomorrow and attempt to get some further definite info. ::) ::) ::)

Thanks for all the great info!!

Went to Halfrauds and got some Dex II and it seems to have done the trick.

Cheers.  :)

Interesting thread with good points from all.

My understanding is that the PAS reservoir is filled with Dexron II and as stated Dex III should not be used. Dex VI may well be suitable but it can do no harm to top up with Dex II if that is what is already in there, especially as it is no doubt cheaper than Dex VI.

Well now I am baffled!!! ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

Called in today to see 'my friend' in the parts department and described the uncertainty I have over the Dexron VI they sold me as "the only one suitable for Omega's PAS", and the discussion going on with Forum members all believing that Dexron II & III is still the stuff to use.

Anyway he went away and did some digging on the system and came back with a print out of what is on the system now:

AR25/AR35 Auto 4-Speed on Omega-B transmissions may be filled with Dexron III,cat.no. 19 40 763 (90 510 269) and can be mixed with the "retroactively approved" ETL 7045 E Transmission fluid.

With PAS "Special Fluid, Dexron III" should be used.

He could find no mention now of Dexron II or VI!!! :o :o :o

I am now far from happy, and have decided to use no more of the Dexron VI until I go back to the dealer after Christmas to sort it all out before my planned 2009 ATF change. >:( >:(

Is there someone out there please who can obtain the definitive GM / Vx / Mobile official advice on the correct ATF to use in 2009?? ::) ::) ::)

Interesting,

Tis field remedy 1570 states dex III is not suitable for pas, and states to go back to dex II

very strange!

To me Jimbob it all is getting stranger and stranger, with doubt in GM circles that should not exist with something so crucial as with ATF! ::) ::) ::) ::)

In a way I wish I had never raised this (YES, it is all my bloody fault!! ::) ::)) and never asked my dealer anything, instead just buying Dexron II, III, VI or anything!! >:( >:( >:( >:(

This is what I found.

That's only the PAS though. Dex 3 is fine for the transmission and Dex 4 might well be fine too.

I'll look later to see what I bought from Vauxhall for my power steering pump reservoir.  :y
