P0170 is a fuel trim malfunction. Do you have the EML on at the moment. If not, it could be an old code.

Could try the pedal trick to double check?

P0170 will light the emissions lamp if it's current, though.

What code is it that you`re getting as this was your original post :)
Just had a check with my new u380 scanner that i go from e-bay LOVE IT . Checked the codes and got 0420 which i know about and have cleared but also  0720 with a P next to it which i think is Ouput shaft speed sensor circuit not shur if this is an old code as it had p next to it on the display .

Output shaft sensor sounds like the auto gearbox?

OSS if fitted is positioned at rear end of box. Bear in mind that the car will be fitted with a primary speed sensor. The output shaft sensor is basically a back-up system if the primary one fails in order for the car`s ECU to still collect all relevant data e.g. if cruise is activated. As you state that the car runs OK I would imagine it`s possibly a stored code :y

Do you ever see the gear selector lights behaving oddly when you move the gear selector?

If the gear selector switch is playing up (dirty / corroded) then the gearbox ecu flags a fault because it sees a difference between the gear ratio it thinks is selected and the actual ratio of input and output speeds. The code doesnt necessarily mean that the sensor is faulty.....only that something isnt making sense to the ecu.

Nah......output shaft speed sensor is found only on auto boxes and used solely by the auto box ecu!

There is no P0720 for this box, only a P0722!

I think the output speed sensor is on to of the gearbox, right at the back end near the output shaft, and at the 1pm position looking backwards. Held in with a 10mm (hex size) bolt.
