Noisey lifters again
« on: 20 February 2009, 21:58:26 »

500 miles after rebuild, lifters still sound like a diesel.
Going to change the oil tomorrow and take it on a 100 mile run on sunday. If they don't change at this stage are they fubar?

No experience of this, but just wonder if oil pressure is ok, oil pump tired? Oil pick up clear, are they receiving enough oil basically?

IIRC there are 2 different types of lifter, 2 different types of oil pump and 2 different types of valve in the oil gallery that feeds them, so if the head / lifters have been changed perhaps you've got the wrong combination now?

Failing that, get the oil pressure checked, or try taking the lifters out and cleaning them. :-/

EDIT: Just noticed it's a 4 pot, so the above may be rubbish. ::)

I would check the oil pressure.

A single noisey lifter I can understand.....a full set is another cause!
