Timing Belt

Evening,

in the process of doing my timing belt   2.5 v6.   using Marks DVD (fantastic).  Have hit a problem tho.  Crank pulley won't come off.  Yep all bolts out, tapped it with rubber mallet. whacked it a bit more with the rubber mallet, spoke to it nicely, threatened it but still won't budge.  Any ideas please :-[ :-[

use some WD-40  I had same problem with PAS wheel , so use spray and hummer :D and come off , dont knock to strong you dont do any damage

You will just need to beat it off, I'm afraid. Rubber mallets are good :y

They do stick sometimes, but it will eventually come off :)

Use a broom handle and a bl**dy big hammer and give it a good welt or two.  This got mine off OK.

Never done one on a Miggy, but I've done several on Sierras, and I found that you need to exert the pull on both sides of the pulley at the same time so you're trying to pull it off square - if you just heave on one side of the pulley it binds and is much harder to get off, if it comes off at all.  I used to use two bars, or beefy screwdrivers.

Got other advice today:-

Use a king great lever.

Now is that a discription of a specialist tool??
Similar to a long weight. :-/

2 welts on my cut down broomhandle (one each side) and it fell off :y

Use of a 'king great lever may damage front plastic cover :(

To do: Replace brake discs and pads; adjust already replaced shoes; check for leaks in oil cooler, cambelt area, crank seals, sump, dipstick; replace osf door; replace a tyre; clean, MOT.

try even pressure at both sides and a good hit try the broom handle the wood wont damage it :y
