Quick one (I hope) Auto boxes
« on: 15 May 2009, 02:23:11 »

Hello again guys!

Right, while (still!) sorting my 3.2 I have stumbled across a gem, 1999 2.5td Elite estate, broken gearbox, problem is, I need her on the road tomorrow!

I know I am best to upgrade to the AR35 and I think I may have found one from a 2001 3.2

Question is, does it bolt straight up and do I need the torque converter or are they all the same?

Many thanks as always!  :y

Torque convertor and bellhousing from the original AR25 fitted to the car today.

Then bung the AR35 on, its worth changing the thrust washer first though.

yup, for the few quid it costs whilst the box is off.

Obviously, also worth changing the ATF before running it on new car.

I don't think you will get a new thrust washer from a VX dealer. They are made by a company called Sonnax. Do a search on my replies as I posted the part number a few weeks ago I think to JimBob's similar request.

JPat supply them along with the two gaskets and filter you need for the oil change. You might also get some OOF discount - see top of postings item.

There is an excellent "How to change" in the guides part of the forum.
