Oh dear,

2 things, One Fiats, I always remember seeing a Fiat Panda, that had a "T" bone. It was in a 30MPH zone so no real damage ?. On the contrary, they were pulling the drivers door off to get in, it looked like an aluminium beer can, bent so easy. Driving an Omega, there are 2 impact bars in the doors which are so much more substantial than a Fiat. Drive a Fiat?, eh no thanks.

On the point of fuel costs, any thing Clarkson says is irrelevant. How much does he earn ?, 10's on thousands ?, 100's of thousands ?, Millions ?. How about the other end of the scale ?. I know a bloke who has to fill his Omega but earns £5.50 per hour. Not a lot, do the math, but, after the b*****ds in the Revenue and Customs get their cut, not a lot left, so this rise is a significant amount.

what we need is a fair Tax System.

For example :

All persons driving 4*4 or SUV's without a Farmer exemption certificate  +500%
All persons driving BMW, Volvo, Mercedes, Audi, +300%

the rest of VAG group +200%

Combined with :
South of Watford gap +100%
South of Leicester  +50%
South of Carlise +25%
Edinburgh, Glasgow +75%
The rest standard rate

The trouble is : Lots of people don't earn anywhere the rates that clown like Clarkson earn, so its not fair to deny them transport on cost grounds. How do you balance it ?
