Hi Guys,

When i thought my mig was all and well after passing its MOT and only having to replace the front wishbones, the engine decides to die on me whilst waiting to get out of a car park.

Tried starting the engine but it refused to start. Checked the codes and it seems I have a P0335 Crankshaft Position Sensor, circuit malfunction.

Called the AA and they got me started by reseting the sensor, however after 500 metres the engine stopped, luckily the AA was following me home.

Eventually i got home by being dragged behind the AA truck after the engine cutting out aleast once more.

The AA mechanic stated that he could not diagnose whether it was the Crankshaft or camshaft sensor and said it was best to change both just in case.

I have seen the Crankshaft replacement instructions on the forum and it seems simple enough for a complete novice like me to do.

Would it be best to change the Cam Shaft sensor as well?

If yes then where on the engine is it situated? 

As cash is fairly tight at present due to replacing front wishbones during MOT i am looking at getting an after market sensor via vauuxhall parts wharehouse on ebay, £32.50 for crankshaft sensor. Has any one on the forum had dealings with this company and the parts???

V6 cam sensors are bulletproof, leave it alone.

go genuine for a new crank sensor though, pattern are problematic.

You mean that by the time Mr AA Man arrived, your crank sensor had cooled allowing the car to be re-started.  You can't re-set a sensor, you might be cable to reset the engine's ECU fault code.
When mine went the other week the car died, half hour later I restarted it &, like you, got about 500 yds up the road (this wasn't a metric road  ). I gave it another 20/30 mins & it restarted again and I got about a mile before it died. I called it a day & waited for the recovery tow truck.

As you can see i am not very mechanicaly minded, but i am steadily expanding my knowledge thanks to this forum. 
Still have not got the confidence to start taking my engine apart though.  :-/
Plus to many years spent living abroad, so everything to me is metric, cannot get the hang of feet and yards.
