For further info on the boost control, its totaly mechanical.

There is an actuator for the waster gate on the turbo which is operated by the inlet pressure on the turbo output.

Bending and/or adjustment of this actuator arm might give similar results.....just be careful!

BMW designate this engine as the M51D IIRC; with 143 BHP on tap as standard.

It's detuned to 128 BHP in the Omega.
A 'Plus 5' chip (5%) gives you roughly 150 BHP therefore.
Cost's around 70 quid from 'our man' - see also:

 ;)

is plus 5 the biggest increase avail?thanks for the link, had seen it done when i got my 325td done.

IIRC a 'Plus 10' chip (at least) can be supplied from the same source.
However, from personal experience, I found the Plus 5 chip perfectly satisfied our needs.

sounds good, i usually set the 325tds up with a chip then a boost controller set to 18psi for best results, so im sure the omega will be somewhat very similar as is same engine

Nope, no electronic boost control on the Omega (there wasn't on the same lump in the BMW and Ranger Rover either). Boost control only appeared with the 2.5 common rail  :y

im am fully aware of this thats why i had an aftermarket one to my 325tds
