In the handbook is reference to a cranked tool that can be used to manually adjust the electric drivers seat (I assume backwards & forwards) in the event of power being lost.

That tool has long gone - any idea what end is on it as I need to adjust one urgently.

look under the seat for the hole....thinks its something like 4mm square drive.

Thanks - I've done that and it looks like something goes in the end of the motor nearest the transmission tunnel. I'll have a closer look - reading specs and a torch methinks!

Yes it's a 4mm square. I use a screwdriver bit in a cordless drill. It's a lot faster.

Actually I've just fitted a "scrap" drivers seat to a shell that will be weighted in down the scrapyard shortly and need something to sit on whilst being towed there.

An old/tatty Elite cloth seat pressed into service - less the control box of course.

What I did was connect a battery charger to the terminals of the motors I wanted to adjust in turn and got the settings spot on

I expect he is trying to get the seats out of the car he is dismantling...

I left the seats in the Elite I was breaking and only thought about getting them out after I'd already weighed in the cars wiring loom!
I did manage to get them to go forward using my trusty old battery charger but when I tried to make the seat go back I could get no movement...

The seats stayed in the car.

To make the motor turn in the other direction you just reverse the connections on the battery charger .....

I didn't bother going for the motor connections I used the seating loom and tried to find the main power feeds to enable use of the switches.
I took an educated semi guess (always the best way to tackle vehicle electrics!) that knowing Vx. brown wires were earths and black or red were probably live.

If any-one else is thinking of tackling this I suggest you don't go any where near the seats with 12v until you have identified the yellow airbag wires and the grey (if memory serves) pre tensioner wires. You risk setting them off if you apply voltage to those wires!

Got the seat winder tool with mine. It's a square end, 4 mill sounds about right, for what it's worth, better late than never.
