Hi Guys,

Couple of things I could do with knowing:

1. How do you adjust the idle speed? Is it electronically controlled?

2. How do you take the dash panel off to get to the bulbs that illumnate the air con controlls (dual zone climate control.

1.  Controlled by the ECU.  What is your idle speed?

2.  There is a HowTo in the relevant section of the board which explains how to change the bulbs.  Are ANY of them working?  If not, the CC Panel may be faulty.

Yup, check the maint guide section for the climate panel bulbs.

Idle should never need adjusting.

Idle valve may need a clean, or may be an airleak or something else affecting the idle.

By the time you have your centre consul and air con switches apart it makes sense to change all the bulbs.

Sods law says that once you have disturbed then re-assembled it all another bulb will go.

I speak from experience!!

My idle when wamed up is just below the 500 RPM mark, thinking it should be just below the 1000rpm mark?

Its the middle bulb I think, the one that illuminates the fan speed

your idle speed is spot on if your a/c off, when on it'll be around 750rpm.

Oh right okay thats good then I'll stop worrying about that then and start worrying about the dairylee that seems to have acculmulated on my oil cap!!

Was slightly supprised to see it, she doesn't overheat, smoke or anything that would suggest a head gasket fail and there is no pudding on the dip stick. Is this common? As its a pillum that leads to the sump?

Very common, esp on short journeys, and worse with some oils than others.

Caused just be condensation.  Dipstick is clear tells all is ok 

GM's own oil is one of the best at not doing this.
Castrol one of the worst.

A quick and easy mod to stop the mayo build up is to remove the filler neck and put the cap straight on to the engine.The filler neck twists off in an anti clockwise direction.Store it in the boot for when you need to top up the oil.
