signs of gear oil low ?
« on: 21 June 2011, 03:37:44 »

had the car on motorway tonight and when accelerating hardish, and the car tries to change from 3rd th 4th, i had to take my foot off the accelerator, it was as if the auto box couldnt decide and kept changing between 3rd and 4th very quickly, almost felt like when the traction control kicks in, but it definatly wasnt that as dry road , straight line and no t.c light, could it be that gear oil is low ? i have noticet on the gear box housing an oil sweat and somtimes oil on ground where car has been parked, but its no using any rengine oil. it drives no problem in and around town and on motorway if your foots not flat to the floor.

Could also be that the gearbox internal filter needs cleaning. Are there any signs of any leaks - no leaks and it is probably the filter choking.

i changed the fluid and cleaned the filter when i first got the car, there is a slight sweat of oil dripping of the gearbox where it meats the engine, so i think its possibly leaking out the sump slightly over time. will check it and update youz thanks

You could try resealing the sump first with a quality silicone sealant but ------ OhOh, were I you I would also check the fluid flywheel seal cos that would cause it to leak there too. If it is then its a gearbox out job..........
Hate bad news too.
Let us know how you get on..... ;)
