Intermittant starting
« on: 22 August 2011, 11:04:10 »

Morning all,

The last few weeks my mig has been failing to start. She turns over but fails to fire up :-/

It doesn't happen all the time but enough to bother me now. Checked for codes - nothing showing.

Trying to remember other OOfer's with this problem, was the answer a crank sensor?

TIA  :y

Crank sensor would be my bet...  :y Easy and cheap enough to start with and does not always give codes when starting to fail...

I did, but only because the engine was not running, if I start it up, it doesn't show.

Any 19 is cause for concern....engine not running should be 31  :y

My mistake Jimbob, I mis understood that code  ::)

So does that mean that it IS the crank sensor or something more sinister? :-/

Just out of curiousity, how do you know that? Is that because of the engine & year of the car?
Only reason I ask is I've seen on here that there are 2 different connectors, iirc.
Apologies if I've offended you with questioning your knowledge   ::)

Hi James,

Yeah, I'm laid up at the moment. I can hobble about and bend my knee about 45 deg, so getting there!!
Thanks for the offer of sorting it for me, thats great mate. I need to save for one first before I can do anything, but when I get it, I'll take you up on the offer if it's still open!

If there is anything I can do for you any time, let me know. May take me a while to hobble there though, lol.

Cheers mate!  :y
