Must have had a brainstorm.....
« on: 09 September 2011, 07:24:45 »

Ok, call me daft cos I did not think it through and bought a flip key conversion.... It came next day and did not include any of the screws that hold the two body parts together so that put it on hold cos the seller is of course 'not in the office'.
My point now is that after holding it and comparing it to my normal keys it is a stupid idea and only adds to the bulk of the keys that I have to carry anyway.
The only 'benefit' :o I can see is that it might impress some gullible fool who sees them left on a table or wherever that I own a far more younger car than I do. All that will make them think when they see me use them to open my car that I am some crackpot wannabe wally with more money than sense... :-?
The conversion will not now be taken on cos a fool or wannabe I am certainly not ( old and a bit foggy I will admit to though)..... ::)

The situation is now worse...
This item can be found on Ebay using the item number 290606344730.
Now I have had the time to have a go at it I have found that it is held together by 3 tiny screws, the holes for them are quite visible, which are not supplied, and one is hidden under a decal (an Opel one mind you) that has to be stuck on after reassembly >:( so I emailed the seller and his response was 'I have sold many of these and they just snap together but if it needs screws you can get them from any hardware store'. If no screws are used it will not stay together and every time you flip the lock to expose the blade the thing falls in two! Some frikking help that was but anyway I tried all of the ones in Leicester and none sell them so tiny - they are in fact a specialist component and have to be ordered from a specialist electronics supplier. Add to that they can only be ordered in bulk packs and it makes me feel I have been ripped off by a seller who does not examine his goods before sale. Surely I could expect that it came with the screws needed?
My advice has to be do not buy the flip key off Ebay even though it is off a decent quality. At £13.99 it would not have broken him to have supplied 3 tiny screws! It is a pity that the aftersales service is not as good as the item quality. My feedback to the Ebay seller will therefore been a very negative one unless he comes up with the screws needed.  :-/

There is no gain, if anything, it makes it more bulky, and certainly makes it look gay.

As to poor aftersales from some ebay seller working out of his bedroom, no shit sherlock...

Turns out he is in Marrakech at the moment but promises to look into it on Mondat when he returns. He seems genuinly disappointed and agrees it may be an oversight by the ones he had left to do the postings while he was away.
I will give him the chance to look into it before I take it to the next step to be fair though.
Needless to say that I will probably put it up for sale myself once it is complete though cos it makes my keyring look like a jailers keyring and I would get probably get issed off with it banging my knee while driving.
:D Thats what I get for being stuuuuupid  :-/
