a friend of mine had one of the last 2.8 specials a really well looked after car.so hes driving along happy as pigs in $hit when a chav walked out from between a row of parked cars my mate hauls on the steering wheel, brakes to avoid hitting the chav the car slides across the road hits the kerb and very neatly slices the wheels in half bent the suspension plus all sorts of other damage.my mate is out of the car double quick to make sure the chav is ok .chav says
" i just wanted to see if i could make you stop"
my mate looks across at his once beautiful Capri then at the chav and
then beats the living crap out of him
none of the local repair centres would touch the car and it ended up at a place in Kent who repaired it with new old stock
when it came back it had better suspension bigger brakes and an axle location kit (and a clean drivers seat) :)

Moral - don't brake for chavs, better for everyone as it improves the average intelligence of the country

THe 3.0 V6 was 138bhp, the 2.8i 160bhp, 2.0 Omega is 136bhp.

If you get a Capri keep it for weekends ect, you will not get what you want for the Omega.

I wish people would give the alternative to Fix Or Repair Daily.

Found On Road Dead.

:D

Is that it? You must be able to do better than that!

Hmmm, tricky one.

Daily driver?

Meega.

2.8i capri?

To be honest, performance isnt everything. You want performance?, 0-60 times?, Traffic light grand prix?

Scooby WRX, Lancer EVO.

If you are feeling brave, Skyline.

Basically, most jap 4x4 turbo motors.

2.8i Capris are all about the experience.

It is about the whole experience, from first drive, to the daily drive, to the weekend treat, to the shows, to selling it to someone who you will know will appreciate it as much as you did.

A capri has a status. A 2.8i is a status with a purpose and a promise.

That is it.

Anyone who disagrees does not appreciate cars.

My opinion.

!! My FORD RWD Cossie will give any of those Jap cars a good run for thier money!
[/highlight]

Very true, but in standard form, it would be left behind. Plus as a daily driver reliability is an issue.
Dont get me wrong, I love cossies too.
But what exactly is he looking for? It pains me to say that the jap motors have more of the boxes ticked, even if they have no soul. 8-)

Agreed. Of course there are very few standard cossies around, they're pretty easy to tune for big power, but likewise for the Jap motors. And in terms of handling, I think you'd struggle to keep up with an Evo given two good drivers round some twisty B roads. The cossie is a great car, and I always wanted my dad to get one as a kid in primary school (the Saffy Cosworth was current at that time), but when I got old enough to buy my own I ended up with an Impreza WRX STi instead.

They were phenomenal cars for their time, and are still very quick, but it's a different generation now and many aspects of car design have moved on. :y
