Omega Estate; 2.2 manual; 51 Registration/2001; Z16XE engine.

I have a recent problem emerge with my central locking. I can press the button on the key fob and the doors will lock (indicators flash etc) with no problem, but when I try to unlock the door with the key fob the lock unlocks (lights flash, button pops up) and then immediately locks itself again.

I have to use the key in the lock to unlock the door, but on a couple of occasions I have got in the car and the doors have locked by themselves when I shut the door.

I make a point of not leaving the keys in the car unattended in case I lock myself out, but it is an irritating problem.

I'm guessing that this is an electrical fault, maybe something damp with all the rain we've had lately? Any hints or suggestions welcome.

I would start by removing the door card and liberally coating all linkages around the central locking motor & all connecting rods with something like chain lub, ie something penetrating enough to get into the nooks 7 crannies but also sticky enough to not get washed away.
Next step is a 'new' locking motor. they're easy enough to change.

I have no problems with the engine. It runs smooth, starts first time every time and gets me where I want to go. What more could I want?

well you could check again what is wrong with it.... besides from the missing 2 cyl )

You are probably right, but the Vauxhall Car Pass in my manual/wallet thingy says Z16XE. Maybe I ought to check the rest of the info like the VIN number ...

Maybe that's why I seem to be 2 cylinders short!

Also worth checking that the actual drivers door knob button is not rubbing / stiff / slightly bent, can create the same issues.

but thats not from your car... the lowest cmc in an omega is the 2,0l gas and diesel... the z16xe is a 1,6l engine(astra, vectra, zafira etc)

Spot on.

If the driver's door lock is jammed or the locking motor has failed (common) the driver's door doesn't unlock with the rest. Once the rest of the car is unlocked, the central locking senses that the driver's door is locked and assumes you've locked it manually, so it locks the others using central locking.

Just need to replace / repair the driver's door central locking motor, I reckon.
