Vehicle reg check...
« on: 25 October 2011, 15:18:23 »

Hi all,

SWMBO has just been given a Opel Zafira, just rang the insurance company and they tell me that the reg of her car is an Opel Vectra & manual, when in fact it's an Opel Zafira auto??

They told me that there is no such vehicle as a Zafira Auto EVER!?

Any ideas as to what to do next please?

TIA  :y

Not much help here I am afraid but there are dozens of Zafira autos out there.

Hope you get it sorted.

Re reading your post I suspect they don't like the Opel part. Probably as they stopped Opel in the UK around 1988ish

I'll agree with you on that!  Some companies are telling me its a Vectra manual, while others confirm its a Zafira??

My current insurer finally accepted its a Zafira - great, NOT.....that'll be £885  >:(

Checked the internet, £499 inc hire car, excess recovery, protected no claims etc etc....... All with the same insurer I'm currently with, how the hell does that work, when they told me that was imposible??

From £87 p/month the old insurer wanted down to £45 with the old insurer on a new policy  ::)

Insurance companies are great at that, I had the same thing a couple of years ago.  I just phoned up my current insurer and questioned why I could get it cheaper as a new customer, after a bit of 'discussion' got it sorted.

Also had a problem with Norwich Union years back when I was in the Army and posted to Northern Ireland.  They told me there is no way they would insure me over there but were gracious enough to give me 28 days cover to get sorted out.  When I got there, went through some brokers etc and got a decent quote which, funnily enough, turned out to be with Norwich Union!

All Vauxhall cars are rebadged OPEL in the Republic of Ireland so i'd say it was imported from there
