Eddie Jordan and DC both get on my nerves.Dont like to hear or see either of them. Historically,James Hunt was the best commentator of the lot. Said what he wanted and didnt give a toss who liked it or not.Wouldnt last 5 minutes in todays homogenised world of F1. :)

Not so bad for those not taking Sky. :y

Here is the 2012 calendar, showing which races will be live on BBC/SKY. BBC will show same-day highlights of all races (plus practice)

SKY    AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX (Melbourne)    16 - 18 Mar
SKY    MALAYSIA GRAND PRIX (Kuala Lumpur)    23 - 25 Mar
BBC   CHINESE GRAND PRIX (Shanghai)    13 - 15 Apr
SKY  BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX (Sakhir)    20 - 22 Apr
BBC    SPANISH GRAND PRIX (Catalunya)    11 - 13 May
BBC    MONACO GRAND PRIX (Monte Carlo)    24 - 27 May  :y
SKY    CANADIAN GRAND PRIX DU CANADA 2012 (Montréal)    08 - 10 Jun
BBC    EUROPE GRAND PRIX (Valencia)    22 - 24 Jun
BBC    BRITISH GRAND PRIX (Silverstone)    06 - 08 Jul  :y
SKY    GERMAN GRAND PRIX (Hockenheim)    20 - 22 Jul
SKY    HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX (Budapest)    27 - 29 Jul
BBC    BELGIAN GRAND PRIX (Spa-Francorchamps)    31 Aug - 02 Sep  :y
SKY    ITALIAN GRAND PRIX (Monza)    07 - 09 Sep
BBC    SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX (Singapore)    21 - 23 Sep
SKY    JAPANESE GRAND PRIX (Suzuka)    05 - 07 Oct
BBC    KOREAN GRAND PRIX (Yeongam)    12 - 14 Oct
SKY INDIAN GRAND PRIX (New Delhi)    26 - 28 Oct
BBC    ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX (Yas Marina Circuit)    02 - 04 Nov
SKY US GRAND PRIX (Austin)    16 - 18 Nov
BBC BRAZILIAN GRAND PRIX (São Paulo)    23 - 25 Nov

My favourites races are shown withe th thumbs-up! The only ones I will really miss seeing live are the races at Monza & Hockenheim. Hungary is not a track I find exciting. As for the others, the Far Eastern ones I don't watch live anyway, and the Canadian and US ones I can watch late (after avoiding the news broadcasts!).

Brundle confirmed leaving to go to SKY (turncoat!), but DC and Jake are staying at the BBC. Wonder who the main live commentator will be?  ???

Worth pointing out that Sky will be showing all races, be interesting to see breakdown of viewing when BBC & Sky are showing the same race.

Don't like Eddie as a pundit, DC is ok, Jake is just an average presenter. Sky got the man they need, they knew rest of the BBC team was not worth having  :)

Just hope it's not Eddie Jordan , he likes his own voice too much :(
Besides he gets on my tits >:(
All of them, Brundle aside, are tits.

Here's hoping the beeb pull Murray Walker out of retirement. He can single handedly add hant F1 has missed for the last 5 or 6 years...

Formula One Administration probably don't need the UK support any more, thus allowing it to go Pay TV.  I suspect the joint thing next year is just a sweetener for everyone (Sky included).

;D in his day yes, but should have retired loooong before he did. Dont think he could see which car was which towards the end...."no Murray, thats his team mate, the other car retired 10 laps ago".
"OH I DO APPOLOGISE, THATS HIS TEAM MATE, THE OTHER CAR RETIRED....." well done Murray! (sigh)

Guess you dont watch much F1 TB ... ;D

I think, in the end of my era of enjoying F1, the excitement that the old duffer had for the sport was infectious, and I used to get excited with it.  Then that other cock did it for a couple of years, and managed to make a (now) dull sport even duller.

Yes, Murray Walker made a lot of mistakes, but you could see his genuine excitement, emotion, love, passion for the sport. It shone though and he entered our homes like so few commentators could. IMHO anyway.

As said, in his day...;)

...he did my head in towards the end though, and found him to distract from the race wondering what the hell he was looking at, Bless him, certainly not the same race being broadcast.

Comes to us all in the end i suppose. But yes he did love it, and that shone through. :)

They used to share a microphone to prevent them talking over each other.Hunt would sprawl out on the floor of the commentary box hung over from a late night of booze, birds, coke etc, and look up at the monitor.when he wanted to speak would yank the mic lead to pull the mic from walkers hands.Apparently the producer had to stop old Murray from decking Hunt when he did it once too often.
I can well remember a track invasion at Monza after Ferrari had won,but the other cars still hadnt finished racing. Hunt then proceeded to give his opinions, live on air about Italians having plenty of emotion but absolutely no brains whatsoever. Murray had to smooth things over, due to the fact they were in a box at Monza and would be lucky to get out alive if anyone happened to be listening to the english broadcast. ::) ;D
