Totally agree about the £5 sat nav aerial.  I have installed a couple of these now for people, and they work a treat.  I really can't see that the aerial is at fault in Rob's case though, as it was previously working prior to his original base being damaged, and since it was a straight swap.

Don't think it's at fault, I sent one to a chap in Scotland off the 2.6 elite i had here for parts and he had to give it a talk with Tech2 before he could get it to work and that was a straight swap to. Mine had to have a talk with tech2 when i put the CID in mine OK it was from a saloon to my estate but it went in with it's HU from the other car but TB had to reset it all is it the same with the base i don't know

That's a new one on me. 

When I upgraded my headunit from a 2013+GID to a 2015+CID+Telematics, I just plugged it all in at it worked straight away.  TB did Tech2 the 2015, but that was only to enable Bose.

No doubt someone will be along soon to confirm either way.

Hi guys have checked all leads james and all is ok there , also did the diagnostics on the sat/nav and first set of figures came up 0/0 so guess its one of the afore mentioned  just a thought but does the actual arial itself have to be different for the sat nav  as i didnt have the arial either but just nabbed the one off my old 99 elite estate that didnt have sat nav ?

also just realised the telematics is having problems too  i can recieve messages but cant make phone calls !!!!!!!!!!! and yes there is credit on it

The satnav aerial is in the base of the aerial on the roof. Obviously, this base needs to be a satnav one

That could be the problem. The sat nav base is different from a normal non satnav one.

if it is a problem with the h/u what can be done about this if anything  does it need to have a tech2 or something or is the h/u knackered ? any ideas folks

Sorry Rob, I somehow missed your thread recently.

I think people are getting confused between the aerial base and the aerial mast. 

We know for sure that the aerial base is the correct one, but it sounds like you might have the wrong aerial mast.  I'm sure that GM list a different aerial mast for estates fitted with GPS and telematics.  It might be worth giving Andyc a call and asking him to check the system for you.
