Fault Code 1-9
« on: 21 July 2012, 13:29:40 »

Hi all
Picked up a cheap and cheerful 2.5 V6 auto estate last week for next to nothing. MOT to next May and a few months tax so got it as a second car. It has an oil leak and a misfire which sometimes is un-noticeable and other times is very annoying and quite harsh. Anyway, hoping to get it to Elite Pete in the next week or two for a full service and check up but in the meantime I've done the pedal check and got error code 1-9. I understand this is an 'Incorrect RPM signal' but does anyone know what causes this and would it contribute to the misfire?
Any ideas anyone?

Crank position sensor.

Codes are listed here Motronic 2.8.1 (V6 Engines) fault codes

Replace with a genuine sensor.

If ElitePete has a TradeClub card ask him to get you a genuine crank sensor at trade club price. :y

PS did I mention that only a genuine sensor will do the job?
