Help!!
« on: 28 September 2012, 12:34:43 »

I have my omega up on stands to replace both wishbones and droplinks as well as suspension top mounts

At the same time I thought I would replace the autobox fluid ... got the new gaskets and sources the new ATF etc ... when I went under the car to open the drain plug it is totally seized and the hex nut has its corners sheared... what can I do ... am I looking at a new sump ?

Are you referring to the 'fill' plug on the side of the box. Can you get mole grips or a wrench on it.  :-\

If all else fails, get someone to weld a nut onto it so you can get a socket or spanner on it to undo it.

fyi, it is the same thread as a oil sump plug, so you can replace that way.

Ah...... useful to know that it is the same plug size as the sump... is that definite?....if so I will get one from the local motor factors for the sump and use that ... no idea how I am going to get the old one out.... stiltson would definitely shift it but the nut is too close to the lip so cant get any purchase

As per above, use an Irwin socket, it will be off within 30 seconds!!

If you're struggling to get one I will happily lend you mine.
