The aerial on my MV6 is in a bit of a state, I don't mean just the bit that screws in, I mean the whole thing that fixes to the roof. I have some questions.

How easy or hard is it to remove the internal lining of the roof to get access to whatever holds the aerial mount in place, and is it easy to put it all back together again ?

How does the aerial mount connect to the audio unit. Is there is connection point within the aerial mount or do I need to thread a cable the whole length of the car ?

I just hate starting something and then finding it's much more complicated than I thought it would be.

Easy if you have a couple of Torx screwdrivers from memory, you just remove the plastic trim and you can lever the headlining down enough to get at the aerial mount and cable tail.

How does the aerial mount connect to the audio unit. Is there is connection point within the aerial mount or do I need to thread a cable the whole length of the car ?

Sub aerial loom connects to tail from aerial base (tail about 10 cm long and accessible in roof void)

Don't pull down on the headling too hard otherwise is creases permanently 

It's made up of a thin fabric layer backed with foam and stuck to a fibreglass backing. Once the fibreglass is bent, then it's toast.

It does have enough give to allow access once the rear trim is removed

You can get to the estate aerial by removing the boot lamp and the cover above it Access is a bit tighter though

Mine was same so I swapped it out for a shark fin like insignia style had to crimp on different connection to it but doesnt foul the boot spoiler anymore eric

I was kind thinking about that. Might do

If anyone is interested, when using a spoiler on the estate models (I know this works for PFL and MFL), try using a Vectra B Estate aerial. It fits exactly the same, but sits about 10 degrees more upright and just misses the spoiler perfectly. No wiring issues, no conversions, simple unbolt, rebolt and connect wiring.
