RSA SecureID - VPN Authentication Problem
« on: 19 May 2008, 19:23:53 »

Trying to connect into work 'cos something urgent has happened.

I have Cisco VPN client on the laptop, and a RSA SecureID token. My understanding is, you use the number generated by the token, and then the number on the back of the key, as the password.

It's worked before, but won't now. I can see the server, just won't authenticate me.

I'm sure it's me doing something wrong, anyone have any ideas?  :'(

That's not the way we use them. We use standard usernames and passwords then the 2nd factor is the code generated. But then we don't use Cisco VPN client  ::)

Same deal with ours, you have a userID and password/PIN and then enter to code to authenticate

When we used securid, it was username & password, then securid number as last part.

our current system is
userid
4 digit fixed no, 6 digit keygened number

the 4 digit bit is either last 4 digits of the serial number for some, or the last 4 digits that were generated by the securid token at registration time for others.

Same as how ours used to work, perhaps it needs re-syncing.

ours is similar but sometimes the pesky useless firewall gets stuck and wont let the comp communicate with the network as it thinks its an unauthorised connection
