V6 oil cooler replacement
« on: 07 August 2013, 21:04:25 »

I have had an oil cooler fail on me for the second time in six months, (the replacement was second hand so i think i have just been unlucky), I am thinking about replacing the original oil cooler with an aftermarket universal oil cooler. Has anyone any experience of this and if so is there an oil cooler kit they can recommend.

Thanks in advance

Later oil coolers are stainless steel, was the replacement also stainless? (Fitted to 2.6/3.2's)

Cooler failure is down to pure neglect of coolant maintenance, are you using a good 50/50 mix of water & antifreeze?

Ive had some doubts about this recently,as Ive seen several 2.6/3.2,s with failed oil coolers. In fact I have one sat on my drive at the moment.

Nothing noted on EPC, except that you can no longer get the oil cooler on its own, it now comes as an assembly with the plate already attached.

Perhaps AndyC knows more.

Ive only ever come across 2 failed coolers, an 03 3.2 and a 02 2.6 so I also have doubts about the late one being any different :-*
