You pay for an Up To xxMb service, not a xxMb service.

Obviously, its clearly not possible to provide everybody with the highest headline speed.
I agree mate,but surely the higher the premium you pay the better the service should be. :y
No. The line can only attain a certain maximum speed for a given technology. Spending more cannot increase that maximum.

No. The line can only attain a certain maximum speed for a given technology. Spending more cannot increase that maximum.
So bt should have given me a realistic down and up lode speed.If it was what they said i would not be complaing.

Hi Vamps,just done a speed test with the wife.2 months down 2 min up.She said about average. ;D ;D ;D

Moggy have you done the obvious and spoken to BT to test the service.

You can ring them now and ask them to check.
Hi mate sorry for not replying earlier.Yes rang them,they are sending an openreach engineer Friday.They confirm the speed is not,as quoted.What they will do is any ones guess. :-\

As per last line of PM, I've had a nasty thought - the speedtests you ran and got the 20down/18up, that wasn't on wireless was it?  If so, try on a wired connection.

20Mbps is around the top end of the capability of a 54Mb wifi (such as 802.11g) on a good day.

Hi mate,since the day infinity was installed.The connection as always been wired(9th may). And the speeds average what i have posted.Sorry i don't know what you mean,when you you say raping the arse off it.Also what is a heavy shaping profile,and how do i check if someone is using my bandwidth.
