TB an open-reach guy is coming Friday. What should i ask him if you don't mind. :y
Before turning up, I'd be inclined to test the router in the test socket of the NTE5, assuming that's what you have, as that should automatically disconnect all internal wiring...

Unless you are a gamer or something, I can't see the point.

So, it's not just me. Everyone get really uptight about what speed their getting. Does it matter ?

When I moved I called BT about lines etc and the guy was prattling on on about better speed for lots more cash a month. Why ? I'm doing this on a 3G mobile connection. It's fine. Why would I want to pay LOTS and LOTSmore for fibre optic ? OK, I don't stream movies or game etc, but then I'm not a nerd and have a real life.

OK, does speed increase if you unscrew and remove bottom half of the faceplate?

Pure download speed is just for penis measuring in the pub.

Where I feel fibre products really score is the upload. This makes VPNs for those who home work more reliable, VoIP less troublesome, and online cloud storage/sync viable.  8Mb down will stream any film from legal sources with ease, but the paltry 1Mb upload is useless for anything that involves your sending data.

You pay for an Up To xxMb service, not a xxMb service.

Obviously, its clearly not possible to provide everybody with the highest headline speed.

I agree mate, but surely the higher the premium you pay the better the service should be. :y

Moggy have you done the obvious and spoken to BT to test the service.

You can ring them now and ask them to check.
