It's getting increasingly difficult to find houses with usable garages around here - precisely because people keep doing that to them and rendering what was a useful worthwhile space completely useless.

Bah.

Yep  Well, like I said different priorities, at present it is just full of crap.

Only kidding, anyway.  At least they're usually easy enough to turn back into garages for those that want one Although there are some very odd garage conversions out there that I've seen - the last one I saw was completely detached from the house, but set out as a livingroom with the up & over door left at the front with just enough depth to open it before you get to the false wall..

Possibly so that it still looks like a garage and is still "officially" a garage to that council approval for "Change Of Use" is avoided along with increased council tax ? Surely not
