It's getting increasingly difficult to find houses with usable garages around here - precisely because people keep doing that to them and rendering what was a useful worthwhile space completely useless.

Yep  ::) Well, like I said different priorities, at present it is just full of crap.

Only kidding, anyway.  At least they're usually easy enough to turn back into garages for those that want one :) Although there are some very odd garage conversions out there that I've seen - the last one I saw was completely detached from the house, but set out as a livingroom with the up & over door left at the front with just enough depth to open it before you get to the false wall..

Possibly so that it still looks like a garage and is still "officially" a garage to that council approval for "Change Of Use" is avoided along with increased council tax ? Surely not  ::)
