Quite pleased.....
« on: 18 June 2008, 10:36:47 »

Had to go to Coventry on buisness yesterday in the mig and thought I had better check the mpg so reset the trip computer (which I have in the past confirmed is accurate) and set off.

So, 96 miles from door to door and back.....38.2mpg at a constant 67mph when cruising.

This is pretty key to me as I have accepted a job on Coventry and will have to commute whilst we try to sell the house and move......and at 500 miles per week I need to be getting reasonable fuel consumption!

LPG it .. :) at 500 miles a week you'll pay for it in the time it takes to find a house, buy it, sell your house, and move   :y :y

How much does LPG cost to buy and for someone to fit it?

I paid £1850 + VAT for my install .. but it is the BRC system and I plan to keep the car a long time .. you can get it done for half that...

On LPG I'm costing 14.46 pence/mile instead of the 24.63 pence/mile that petrol costs me ... saving 10 pence/mile or £90 a month depending how you see it. (900 miles a month).

If you are doing 2000 miles a month thats £200 off your fuel bill .... would pay for a DIY system in 4 months !!! ...  and I don't know the housing market in Nottingham/Coventry .. but round here most folks are taking 10-12 months to move .. :(

It was both a "tongue in cheek" comment and semi-serious .. :)

Mark - gas it mate. If you want, I'll give Jeremy a call and negotiate a kit for you?

It's a no braner for someone like you who can DIY.
