SGIS Injector nozzles
« on: 20 June 2008, 16:42:40 »

Can anyone remember the size and pitch of the thread on the manifold nozzles with the SGIS kit?

I'm pretty sure it's M6, which requires a 5mm drill bit? Unsure about the pitch of the tap I need, though...

Also - is this thread the same for the little vaccum nozzle too?

Cheers again!

Yes, pretty sure they're M6x1. A 5mm drill bit will be approximately right (the metal is as soft as butter so it isn't critical).

Didn't take any photos of marie's two thirds of an engine 4pot manifold, but it was straightforward. I think I got a bit close to the gasket sealing ring with one of them. However, I was drilling from the outside which I've learnt is not the best policy. Probably better to grind yourself a flat where you want the outlet from the manifold face side, then drill into it because where you emerge on the "outside" of the manifold isn't as critical.  ::)

Start off with a small drill bit (2.5 mm for example) and get a hole drilled then inspect it both sides to make sure the hole will take opening out to the full 5mm without fouling anything. You can always move the hole slightly by aiming the next size up slightly off centre.

I used 2.5mm nozzles on Marie's engine and upped the vapour pressure to 1.1 bar and it was spot on. The vapourisers (aptly named at the moment ::)) seem to come set at 0.8 bar or less at the moment so they need upping in pressure a bit. Remove the "voltran" name label and use an allen key to screw in the plug a turn or two while watching the pressure.
