New UK Military Investment
« on: 05 September 2014, 18:37:01 »

This should please many who think the UK military are going backwards:

Today Cameron announced £3.5 billion will be spent on new army vehicles, plus the 2nd Queen Elizabeth Class carrier WILL be used!

In addition the UK will commit 1,000 troops to a new NATO rapid reaction force that will consist of 4,000 troops across Europe.

Hooray!! 8) 8) 8) :D :D :D :y

Good news for the investment, but I'd far prefer the 4000 troops to be guarding our borders and giving any illegal immigrant the option of being shot or leaving the country.

Just need the planes to put on the carriers, and the full time troops, and Trident replacement and and and, still a step in the right direction :y. Which other NATO members are putting resources forward ???
Not only protecting our borders but stopping Muslims returning. >:(

Yup, the muppets are going to stop nicking our airfields and use the new carrier to store all the decommissioned armoured vehicles on instead  ::)

As for a quick reaction force, lets invade Germany again and set up BAOR  :y :y

That's good news that The Prince of Wales won't be mothballed as they hinted might happen!  :y  As Cleggy said we just need to find some aircraft to put on it now!  ;D

Maybe it would be a good venue for a model airplane competition.....  :-\

We could afford the planes if we didn't waste £55 million per day on the EU. >:( >:( :(

Anyone else think that is a strangely large number for the UK to be providing.  A fag packet exercise of 70 million population out of 500 million would be about 550. maybe Cameron prefers us to have a large say. maybe the other countries not sending many pay the Travel and Subsistence costs of our soldiers?

Don't forget, opposite often to common perception, the UK is about fifth in the World's military spending. We still can pack a punch, and any extension to our capabilities, especially with the Royal Navy and RAF, must be welcomed.

However their is a downside; don't fall ill, loose your job, or simply become a member of the poorer classes!  The cost of any additional military spending must come from the Welfare Budget. There is nowhere else, politically speaking, that any government, current or future, can go. :-X

And most of that goes to pay back handers to various people involved in the procurement of our equipment and the out sourcing of work to civilian contractors  >:(
The so called leaders of our armed forces are more interested in kissing arse and protecting the knighthood that is waiting in the winds as long as they keep there mouth shut and don't rock the boat too much  >:( >:(
Believe me, the NHS is a model of efficiency compared to the arseholes who have been running the military for the last 30 years at least  >:( >:(
I left 24 years ago but even then, the RAF was getting its arses raped on a regular basis on the smallest thing >:( >:(
