on friday night i came over and introduced my self , it was raining. i invited every one to come over and come out of the rain to my caravan and gazebo 4 drinks etc.  and got blanked, twice. felt like a right t....wt

Humble apologies Rad Cap. :-[

I honestly didn't know - I remember seeing your Nevara but didn't realise who you were. I must of been elsewhere when you came and introduced yourself as I would certainly have accepted your invitation and shared a few beers. We REALLY are a friendly lot and not at all "clicky", just a bit of a misunderstanding methinks. :-?

Methinks that a group of folk with a Nevara, and all wearing silly hats/bunny ears would "appear" to be a private party not linked to OOF in any way ... I walked past your set up dozens of times and had no inkling you were a forum member .... why would I ??

I'm sorry you feel put out .. but as we say in the 'van community.. you get out what you put in ... you have to step forward as folks will respect your right to privacy just as much as your right to join in.

My wife and I knew no-one as this was our first "meet" .. but we wandered down and said "hi" to a few folks and were soon made very welcome .. the point here is .. we wandered down and said Hi .... we stepped out that first little bit .....

Just my silly point of view  .... nothing  else ...  :y :y

I can honestly say there was no cliques at the lakes meet.
This was our first national meet & with no other scottish members there we knew no one
Me & "higher management" arrived at about 9pm. We got set up in the god awful weather. by the time we were done, it was pitch black & the rain was horizontal. At about 11pm, we decided to find the "facilities" and took a walk into the blackness. we spotted a group all hiding under a shelter, but didn't think anything about it until I spotted an oof cap. I went over, said hi, and the introductions started along with the offers of fall-down water. After a bit of a chat, we retired for the night.
The rest of the weekend was mucking in together to make more time for the beer. I can say the saturday night BBQ was a great night. I've not eaten, drank, talked & laughed so much in a long time.

I think you do the members here a huge disservice by your earlier comments

Last year I knew no-one and made name tags for people and thier cars as a bit of fun but it helped to break down a few barriers and got us mixing well.

I have a plan for next year suggested by Bill (Shyboy) that will work well, which revolves around a flag and a meet n greet.

On the first night we all meet up at a nominated location at a set time, say 7pm at the biggest BBQ on site or other prominent location arranged and posted on the forum in advance.  At this meeting we can do a quick "Hello I'm Chopsdad, I drive an Omega" sort of thing.  At this meeting we can discuss local happenings such as the Keswick market on Saturday and I'll bring some tourist leaflets for those new to the area.

For a group of wide ranging individuals with just a car in common I feel we all get on very well both here and in person.

Long may it continue.   :y

If you missed out at this meet - there's another coming soon. ;)
