Anyone know what these wires are for please?
« on: 02 May 2015, 11:43:34 »

Car is 02 mv6 3.2 estate, have removed powersounder thanks to the guide but in the process found a bare wire passing through the wing. There is a sleeve with a brown wire and a green/black wire. The sleeve and the brown wire have been chaffed through as there is no grommet.

Would anyone know if it is important ?

Should I wrap it and leave it or try and reconnect it?

Just got rid of one fire risk, don't want to create another one!

Will try and upload a foto but not good with digital stuff( film fan)

Thanks, Graham

Sorry, this should have been posted in the electrical section, ???

Does it reappear in the wheel arch en-route to the pad wear sensor on the drivers side brake caliper?

Thanks for your reply, it goes in behind the wheelarch liner, I connected it back together using a connector block thingy and wrapped in insulation tape, think it may be the feed for the side indicator repeater.....at least it is safe now to leave the battery connected, I smashed open the removed powersounder and the circuit board was black,
Problem sorted! :y

Reading about the horror stories re the power so under made me paranoid!
Visions of the car bursting into flames, so disconnected the battery until it was removed, only had the motor 2 weeks!
Happy now it is out, out of interest I read on here that it shorts across the car battery, would it do the same to the alternator, mine died after 2 days, ie do power sounders kill alternators??

Some pics hopefully:

And yes I live in a caravan, but am not a pikey ;D
