Between here and Bristol on the M5 at the weekend we got as good as 41mpg in our Auto.....but it didnt like the stop start at all......And i made her turn the climate off and open a window........lol

That won't make any difference. Open a window, and it affects the aero dynamics, causing drag. Costs you the same in fuel as climate, but with less wind noise ;)

16mpg while towing on gas?

Get yoursef a derv, they do 30mpg towing...
Thats about what I averaged when we dragged that estate back here...

500 miles a week out of my own pocket.......well, actually the company is paying for the first 4 weeks at 25p a mile.....and with the cash saved I can get rid of those crap Michelin over hard piles of shit tyres on the back....

......now THATS worth saving a few quid!

I save my fun for roundabouts and slip roads where people try to cut in........the rest is plain boring motorways and dual carridge ways.

Mine is mostly spent at 40mph - not the most economical speed for an auto - with a couple of short stretches of dual carriageway where I have to make up time ::)
