DECT Phones

Had a Phillips Dect (Pair) phone for ages, cant remember model but I know it sounded like Onice or something.  Keypads ened up becoming naff.

Tried a couple of other Phillips DECT (Returns I reckon - Unaware at the time - Cheap from fleebay)  no real joy there.

Then bought BT Elise DECT phones, SMS, colour screen, Simm copy etc.  Nice phones.  Now ones struggling to hold full charge on 2 x AA replaced hi-power batteries, and the main handset is suffering button issues again, probably only dust under the keys but thats what I liked about the Phillips having a sealed keypad.

Ready for some new phones.  Heard Panasonic are good.

SMS is good, SImm copy dont mind either way.

Needs good stand by and talk power time. colour screen and as many other options on offer as poss.

Any suggestions.

I have a collection of Philips Onis DECT phones in the loft. About the only thing that works on them is the keypads, which are in great nick. You're welcome to them if you want to do some surgery.

On one set they started eating the batteries very quickly. Other set the base station died so I gave up. >:(

I've got a couple of lovely phones that use a cable to connect to the socket in the wall now. Much less hassle. They could catch on, I reckon. ;)

Had Panasonic Dect for a few years, been good.

Not the easiest to use - funny keystrokes etc.


Why does a phone need a colour screen though?

Have done that twice now.

Only a problem on one handset there though. makes no difference swapping them over on the chargers either. :-/

Don't buy a BT Synergy 4500. I bought a quint set and they are awful. Loads of buzzing in your ear, speach not loud enough in your ear even on max volume to have decent conversation with someone, one of them has failed altogether, if you dial too fast it gets into some sort of a dialing loop. Honestly - I use my mobile phone in preference to this piece of junk.

it seems they are all made to to price now, and seem to be less reliable than older models.

Why does a phone need a colour screen though?

It doesnt, I just like it now that I have had one, deffineatley got be backlit.

I have an idect (just cheap argos) which i've had for about three years & it's been brilliant. Still holds its charge for a good 8-10 days & it still has the same battery :y

I have a phillips Skype phone, can be used for Skype and as a normal phone!  Wireless and sleek design, I love it!  :y

Moblie phone and Wifi/dect phone in one - conectes to the pile of shite BT home hub in the house and any open wifi hot spots it finds when out and about

Will these run the Tomtom maps with a bluetooth GPS reciever?

Fraid not - it's a very very basic phone, which suits me fine, I use the iPod for every thing else
