Get rid doesnt necessarily mean life imprissonment!!
One of the criminal justice systems biggest headaches is just how many people we put in jail and how much we spend on keeping them there. Surely you only want to imprison those who are a genuine threat to society, this doesnt necessarily mean a physical threat as some fraudsters, eg, cause untold financial misery to many (and I'm not talking about the government or the banks before someone says it!). But there are far too many who, if the punishment more properly fitted the crime, could repay their "debt" to society by working FOR the society. As for capital punishment, for some crimes, yes-------but with all the recent advances in forensics can we still really be sure 100% of guilt? Or maybe we should just reintroduce penal colonies !!
Seriously though, the more you think about it , the more complex it gets and there really arent any easy answers. All I know is that this country is not getting it right and hasnt been for a long time and itd be nice if one day someone in government actually realized what most of us feel and had the balls to do something about it, regardless of how big a change this meant. All too often the victims are left just that.
