Tyres again.....Sorry
« on: 29 January 2007, 12:34:29 »

Right, the MV6 is booked in for 4 new continental's on wednesday, Thanks for the advice.

Had the CDX Full geometry'd today, so much better!
Also had em check and (was going to be reseal the tyres) as the all lose pressure.

However

3 out the 4 had multiple punctures, 2 unrepairable, so its new tyres again (8 in a week is gonna kill me)

So recommendations and stay aways for a 2.2 Saloon please (16")

Just out of curiosity mate, where did you get the full geometry check done? How much did it cost?

It was Buckley Tyres!

Didn't know they could do it, noticed 4 wheel alignment on their website, so rang up and asked about full geometry
Prices on the phone were dearer than I paid - £45
3 out the 4 were adjusted, car handles so much better and doesnt ditch find anymore :)

very much doubt it is up to Tony's standard, but all most the boxes on his screen were red when he started, green when he finished.
certainly better than nothing.

Cost me £22.90!!!!

Just to change the subject, I found a pair of brand new "GB" numberplates I had had made up for your car and never fitted. If you want them PM me your address and I'll forward them on. :)

My 2.2 came factory fitted with Pirelli P7's.  Supposedly designed for big fat saloon cars as they have toughened sidewalls to aid cornering etc. Kwik fit £140 ea - local fitter £80

I like em cos they run for 20,000 miles, grippy in the wet and dry and nice n quiet - I found Contis I had on my Cav had more road noise (but nothing compared to Vredestein's :( ) but were good in the wet.

My MPG is not great though - struggling to get 31/32 with cruise at 70 mph so considering Goodyear Eagles next. HTH  :y

Really? Excellent, I'll have to get on the phone to them to get mine checked. I had one of my steering idle arms replaced for the MOT in November, and never had the tracking or camber checked.

Goodyear Eagle Ventura on the Omega here, I find them excellent, or though TB doesn't  ;)

For day to day needs, grip is excellent, already done 15k miles myself in them (plus a few K from previous owner), still got 8mm at the front!  :o 6mm at the back!

Dad has Michelin Pilots I think on his, second set of tyres on his car. mileage? 93k!  :D

I have Continental Contacts on mine, happy with the grip but more road noise than others I've had..
