Its your stoopid gay browser being stoopid and gay.

Nuke the cookies, all will be happy in the world again.

And, remember, storing userids and p/w automatically in the browser is a BAD BAD BAD idea - irrelevent for OOF (unless you happen to use same p/w for other more important things, which would be very very very very very very BAD!!) as its unimportant.

Nuked the cookies. Signed in and the cookies came back. Signed out, closed browser restarted browser, bingo, I'm back as a bl**dy guest again. Grrrr..  >:( >:(

Every time that I visit the forum today I have to log in afresh, even though I log in "for keeps" each time.  :-?

Anyone else had similar problems?
[/highlight]

Been like that for weeks now, have to put my name and password in every time, except when I forget to log out ::)

Do you run Firefox. If so, what version?

No

Then it doesn't seem to be a problem with my "gay" browser (as TB calls it!).  ;D ;D

OK, so I've been doing some fiddling around. If I tell Firefox not to accept cookies, it won't let me sign in to OOF. If I tell it to allow cookies until they expire, it lets me in and OOF gives me 3 cookies, but when I close Firefox and restart, the cookies have disappeared and I'm back to the "Welcome Guest" bit.

All this happened today, it has always been fine before (although I occasionally had the problem after the forum had been down for maintenance.

I'm stumped on this.  :-[

Any ideas, anyone?

If you log out from OOF (by clicking Logout), cookies get nuked.

If you close the browser, if the cookies go, thats your gay browser The browser controls the cookies.

Begrudgingly, TB, I have to say that you were right. The problem lay in a corrupted "cookies.sqlite" file in Mozilla. I got rid of it and restarted Firefox and it recreated the file and all seems to be well again.

And it's still NOT gay!  ;) ;D ;D
