Has it ever happened to you?
« on: 09 July 2009, 22:44:10 »

Here is the story... Couple of days ago I have finally found nice looking 3.0 elite in my price range. I contacted the seller and made appointment to view the car. I left work earlier to get there on time. Just before getting on train I rang the seller to confirm viewing. He said that there is another guy coming at 5 but if I will arrive at 4:15 I will still have some time to view the car before next client. I was sure that I should get there by 4:15. So... I bought the ticket, spent 2:30 on the train to finally get to Peterborough. I got off the train, called seller to tell him that I am there, he picked up and... told me that the car has just been sold!!! I couldn't believe my ears >:(

So 5 hours on trains 100 quid paid for tickets and just big disappointment at the end. Is it just my bad luck or something like this happens quite often?

By the way, I would like to say thank you to OOF member with the nick serek. He offered me help with checking the car before I put cash on the table. I really appreciate your help mate! :y maybe next time :y

if i was selling and someone was willing to come all that way, i'd at least have given you the chance to make an offer - nothing you can do tho - just bad luck  :(

Devils advocate, how many times do people say they are going to turn up and don't. :(
Some guy in front of you is offering you money there and then, what are you going to do?

I would just say "sorry I got someone travelling long way to see this car. Call me in an hour and If he will not turn up or will not buy the car then we can make a deal".

Sound fair enough don't you think?

Or he should tell me when I had called him just before I bought the train ticket "keep in mind that car might be sold before you will get here"

Why is it so difficult to be honest this days...?

As said. How many times have you had a car for sale but no one shows despite promises?
I understand your frustration though & hope you find a peachy mig soon. ::)

Before I got my current mig I went to see a mig at a car showroom they said it had to get the aircon fixed and to come back saturday to buy it.
I returned to find they had already sold it. advantage was the guy who bought it had no end of problems with it and ended up flogging it for parts :y
