If I went to another cultures society and demanded that they remove decorations as they offended me I would most likely get beaten or even shot.
So stuff them this is our country If we want to celebrate our holidays then let us otherwise let there be no holidays at all for whatever religion, race or creed you are and then try complaining.

sorry this gets my back up everytime, I am not racist and will happily let others celebrate their beliefs but really hate it when they try to stop ours by councils trying to keep the few happy over the many.
If you don't like it the F&&* off back to where you came from.

Trouble is, for many of the malcontents; that`s only probably as far as: Bury, Oldham, Brum or Bradford! ;D

Good. The sooner all fairy stories religion is banned, the better.

How tolerant.  ::)

There's a lot more proof to support global warming than gods of any description.

The two cannot be compared. The existence of a deity can neither be proved nor disproved scientifically. That's why religion is described as a faith.
Equally, atheism is a faith. Agnosticism could be described as scepticism.

The problem I have is that banning religions, were it ever to be attempted, would be a totalitarian move -destined to failure and a cause of much suffering. I am happy to tolerate the existence of people who live their lives by their own faith. I do not tolerate the imposition of faith, nor any attempt by one faith to oust another (which is effectively a way of "banning" the latter).

As far as global warming is concerned, it is a question of atmospheric physics which, given time, will be answered scientifically.

That was probably the same feeling they had when we were Empire Building, to use a grossly euphamistic term.

The following excerpt from that report says it all really;

Legislation championed by Harriet Harman, the equalities minister and deputy Labour leader,

With EU legislation and the mess of ill thought out measures created by New Labour - only from the standpoint of having been the party of government for the past 12 years - this country is in a shambolic state.

Destroyed by crude  - for the most part - attempts at social engineering.

It's a light form secularisation, I think in an attempt to ease religious tensions in some parts of the country.  The Russians tried it in Former Yugoslavia and look what happened there........

Lots of things 'should be banned'. Mothers in law, the government, earwax etc. Doubt they ever will be though. ;D

That's the logical conclusion G  - I wish people would pay more attention to recent history for a clue to what may happen on the back of all this 'thoughtfully' drafted legislation :y :y
