xmas is cancelled
« on: 18 November 2009, 10:15:26 »

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/religion/6591625/Equality-Bill-could-lead-councils-to-clamp-down-on-Christmas-decorations.html

i dont put any up as i spend it alone but break would i take them down cause it offends anyone. i find it intrusive that i have to listen to music so loud i can hear it from 5 miles away in southall. but i respect the fact they celebrate there diwali. so they should respect our celebrations just the same.

its a typical reaction by the p,c brigade richie, you ask any of the ethnics & they dont have a problem with it, not that they should have a say in the first place you understand ;)

My better half works in a Cof E run childrens centre but was told the children could not do a Halloween theme because it might "scare "them and even Father Christmas is under threat! Methinks its all some quasi religious thing about not doing anything pagan linked-obviously those who make such decisions are oblivious to the whole christianity appropriating pagan festivals thing. Even more bizzarely, whilst celebrating Halloween is a no-no, they are PC aware enough to acknowlege Diwalli !! >:( :-?

The following excerpt from that report says it all really;

Legislation championed by Harriet Harman, the equalities minister and deputy Labour leader,

With EU legislation and the mess of ill thought out measures created by New Labour - only from the standpoint of having been the party of government for the past 12 years - this country is in a shambolic state.

Destroyed by crude  - for the most part - attempts at social engineering.

If I went to another cultures society and demanded that they remove decorations as they offended me I would most likely get beaten or even shot.
So stuff them this is our country If we want to celebrate our holidays then let us otherwise let there be no holidays at all for whatever religion, race or creed you are and then try complaining.

sorry this gets my back up everytime, I am not racist and will happily let others celebrate their beliefs but really hate it when they try to stop ours by councils trying to keep the few happy over the many.
If you don't like it the F&&* off back to where you came from.

The bishops have also expressed fears that the Equality Bill could force church care homes to remove crucifixes from their walls in case they offend "atheist cleaners".

Not as outlandish as it appears, the legislation is mostly in place;

Happening in Italy as well:

The European Court of Human Rights has ruled against the use of crucifixes in classrooms in Italy.

It said the practice violated the right of parents to educate their children as they saw fit, and ran counter to the child's right to freedom of religion.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8340411.stm

This has met with a great deal of opposition in a country where the Church is an integral part of Italian culture.

There is, of course, a chilling precedent to this:

1937: Nuns were replaced by the "brown shirt sisters" of the Nationalsozialistische Volkswohlfahrt, the Nazi welfare organization. There were attempts to abolish school prayers and remove crucifixes from the schools.[/b].
