Caravanning in an old car.

 The Rover 2000 is positive earth (1970 J reg.) Towbar fitted but can i just plug the van in & go? I don't think so much as TB would welcome the sight of burning Elldis BBQ. I've told to swap the pos & neg over on the tow hitch depending on which car i tow with & disconnect the leisure battery while towing. Both cars only run a single system so it's only for exterior lights whilst on the move.
   Any ideas please? Guy. :-/

Mind I prefer the P6 Rover anyway :D :D

I think Guy you would need to change the polarity of the car or change this on the caravan by altering the wiring, I think..... :y

I wouldn't have thought you'd have a problem with just the primary electrics connected. It should only be bulbs attached and they don't mind which way the electrons flow. :y

Yes it is a TC. Just bought 2 original fram air filters for £8. 12 months t&t 83k, £700. Slight knock on front suspension & a noisy thrust bearing. Used it for the last 2 weeks with no bother. Consul sold for £2500. 8-)

take it that it has a dynamo then? if so simply change the car to neg earth very easy on dynamo cars!!

Just a thought, if you just plugged the caravan in to the car, if caravan used the chassis for any earth points could there be a problem through the tow ball connection ? Getting way past my bedtime, so I may be talking rubbish.

Correct. it really doesn't matter to the caravan if the common return for the light is connected to the chassis as this will be connected to the car chassis too. Whether it's positive or negative is not an issue.
