Leaves me cold I'm afraid.  Managed to miss all of it but had to resort to listening to CDs 'cos there were no other channels to watch either. :(

I am so glad I missed it. OK, I know its for a good cause (more on that later), but who really wants to watch a bunch of bloody amateurs?  OK, they are 'celebraties' (almost), does that make it more entertaining? Why?

As to the good cause...

I am livid that the state funded BBC can do this.  The size and monopoly of the BBC means this one gets promoted for weeks/months before, and because of its high profile, all the large companies choose it to support for their tax breaks charity work.  At the expense of other, equally/more needy, charities. And its not like they cycle around other charities, its been 20yrs of this one.

Its wrong. Completely wrong.

Children in Need is not a charity I choose to support, but even if the BBC dumped Children in Need and replaced with one of the charities I do choose to support, my beef would remain - the BBC is too influencial.

Glad I missed it too. Not that I watch any of the BBC channels much anyway these days. I have no problem with charity but why does it have to involve an evening of such total tripe that it'd be more fun to spend a friday evening at the dentists?

Well between the fixed dish Sky system and the 1.2 metre movable Reference dish on another system I guess there's around 2 thousand channels I could have watched but didn't as I couldn't find anything that took my fancy.

I listened to Jazz FM on the radio instead. (Dinner Jazz with Sarah Ward is highly recommended)

In my view its brain-dead 'entertainment' made palatable for the masses many of whom seem to respond favourably to noise, movement, colour and celebrity.

what are the viewing figures for CIN? 'cos even if it only gets 10million viewers...£40million quid (ie £4 from everyone watching, doesnt seem like much and thats if every penny was raised on the night...which it isn't) jeez, Robbie Williams alone could double that amount and not feel it - I'd be asking why we need these big events in the first place, £40million is tiny if it came from government funds - the civil service probably spends more on mouse mats. I'd say make it a compulsory tax and stop hitting me up for a few quid with your wacky stunts to make yourself feel better. I worked with a guy who went to Peru on an expedition to raise money for CIN......I asked why didnt he just take all the money he'd raised to travel and give it straight to the charity instead of getting a jolly to Peru under the guise of do-gooding? He admitted it was all about the trip after a few refreshments  :y

She has a lovely and highly unusual vocal timbre and a superb taste in Jazz; she`s my favourite JFM presenter. :y
