Windows live messenger - grrrrrr
« on: 09 January 2011, 21:57:08 »

On XP, does anyone know to stop this coming up each time I power up. I never use it & want to disable/remove it from my machine.

TIA - Rob

depends on the version,

some have an option in the settings to not run on startup,
it maybe your email program starting it
all can be stopped by fair means or foul though :y

Start - run ....  type msconfig ... click go

This gets you to the config screen

go to the "startup" tab

you will see a list of all the programmes that autostart, just untick (by clicking the tick box)  any you don't want, then click "apply" then "ok" then reboot your system.

You can "switch back on" anything you "turn off" in this way just by replacing the tick at any time ..
