It's an interesting approach for sure .. the Tower usually (?) caution you to be aware of folks on the beach  ......  luckily the C130 can make a slightly higher approach and avoid the problems..... however the on-board kit will be bleating at you for being high on the glide slope. The 747 guys simply follow the instruments ..... looks a lot worse than it is ... but in the event of an "overshoot" (missed approach at decision height) then the folks on the beach run the risk of a quick sandblasting session !!!!

Woulda bigger aircraft need to get on the deck quicker to stop? I'm assuming runway space is limited, looking at the video...?

Someone needs to be reminded of the 500 foot rule, methinks:

(b)The 500 feet rule

Except with the written permission of the CAA, an aircraft shall not be flown closer than 500 feet to any person, vessel, vehicle or structure.

Indeed so - it was such reckless disregard that lost them the Malvinas.

In my view they should stick to producing tinned beef, leather goods and astoundingly beautiful women. :y

Yes. If you can't take us out from 500 feet, do the decent thing, chaps, and surrender. ;D
