I was on that very beach having some alcoholic refreshments only a few months ago. I've got pics I'll get them up later

That particular 747 was slightly low on landing, but all the same, they do come in very low at the best of times.

Take-Off is interesting for those on the beach, 100% thrust from the 4 engines is enough to overturn a bus!  ;D

Well here are the pictures. I have had to just put the link in as I deleted the resizing and conversion software from my computer, so the pictures are very big (size wise and mb wise)

One is a timetable on the blackboard of flights due in. I must say the jumbo in the picture is alot lower than any I saw!

p.s when the big silver AA plane came down to land he tipped his wings for the benefit of the people on the beach. I made a rather hasty retreat at that point! I'm not a pilot obviously but it was too low and close for my liking! :-/

great pics  :y  i imagine a 747 needs all the runway there as opposed to making do with half of it for the lighter aircraft - hence the fence skimming white knuckle landings for jumbos  ;D

Yeah you're not kidding! Did you notice i took all those photos out of the flight path!!!!

I didn't fancy being sandblasted either so went nowhere near the fence when any took off! And i couldn't get sand in my beer could I!!!???

Oh yeah that aswell! I've actually seen vids of people getting blown across the beach and in the water though!
