Stuff all that tekkie bollix, V6's are cool as & pull like the proverbial. Keep up the oil/filter changes & change the cambelt/water pump every 40k or 4 years.

  Then ENJOY!!! 8-)
reeeaaally missed my v6 today, havind to drop a couple cogs joining the motorway at 55mph in the 2.2 just feels like i have to work it soo hard!
really if i could use a 2.6 and do the trips that i mostly use mine for to see what differance in mpg i get id be happy.
i really dont want to get a v6 then find im much worse off fuel wise, but i have this feeling i wont be as im having to push the 2.2 hard.

Console yourself with the fact that the 2.2 has a bigger/longer bore and stroke than the 2.6 (I think) :y :y

i dont feel consoled  ;D   i want more power! more cylinders! lol as its the workhorse run around, and i did majorly fail at buying something bigger but cheap to run, i have to be quiet lol  its a major improvment over the car it replaced, and worth every litre of extra fuel it uses. maybe i can just release some more horses from it.

why did the 2.2 vectra engine make more power then the 2.2 omega?

I went from a 2.2 auto to a 3 litre manual and still got roughly 300 miles to a tank. Not sure what the 2.6 figures would be though.  And it is infinately more fun to drive. ::)
I tend to do a lot of short trips, school run etc. so economy isn't great for me.  Can/could get 500 miles on long motorway runs though. :y
I dread the day I no longer run a V6. :(

I'm guessing big car means bigger engine doesn't need to work as hard as the smaller one does? :-/

really? i thought someone on here told me it was basicly just the belt/chain differance. which is why i was wondering if i could use any vectra parts to increase power, it seems not then lol

Rear wheel drive versus front wheel drive for starters?

well this is what im thinking, the roads i use it on the 4 pot doesnt have the umpth i like.

to be fair, im lucky that most of my trips are national speed limit, shortest trip is about 14 miles round trip to shops and 90% of that is at 60+ mph.  its also smiles per mile too, i can live with a couple mpg drop lol

I suspect that the engines are tuned differently anyway, for drivability of the different cars.  Remember, the Omega is rather heavy, so low down torque is far more important than a peak bhp figure, which only serves as a penis measurement tool down the pub

no these were flywheel figures i was looking at so the layout wouldnt make a differance.

i suppose what i would spend getting more power from my 2,2 would A pay for more fuel on v6, and b buy a v6 lol

def have the omega bug tho! even toyed with finding a nice mv6, i have a classic car policy for pre 1989 cars thats dirt cheap so something like a 205 diesel could fit on that for the shorter trips.

yeh im guessing the omega is more torque orientated for its size. but if its a totaly differant engine i wont look no further
