when my last HID lamp died..

Blue / white / yellow to start

then went purpleish, then pinkish
then flickered and died in the space of about a week iirc.

See now looking at them, they look rather nice I think 

Its dependent on if you want the best lights for driving or the most chavvy look.

The 6000K will give the chavvy blue look at the expense of the optimal useable driving light output. 

I use philips 6K and defintely crystal white not even bluish..

Your best bet for the standard look will be 4300k D2S bulbs.
