...on Friday went well. Arrived just about on time to see an MX-5 come off the ramps so I was straight in for the geometry setup.
Pete was doing the alignment work (Tony B wasn't around). Polite and courteous, he answered all my inane questions and explained as to why the inside shoulders of the fronts had worn down. He clearly had confidence in his work as he didn't even go for a little drive in the car

.
Incredibly he said that the wishbones were OK and didn't need replacing, which was quite a shock as I had mentally planned a return visit

.
However the n/s/r track rod end was seized, despite copious Plus Gas, but not sufficiently out of alignment to warrant the parts and labour cost to fit or to try heating it up

. In the past (couple of years ago), Tony was in the business of being able to fit recon'd track rods but not sure if this is the case any more.
So I came away with a set of 235/45 ZR17 94W Conti SC3s and I have to say the car is now more sure footed, doesn't wander over the road any more and is a pleasure to drive. Nice to be able to drive in straight line again

. It should also fix the pressure loss I was experiencing on 3 of the tyres, with good quality rubber fitted.
Will definitely be back again in a year's time for a check up

.
