Cheers Timbuk :-[

But after the Timbuk the Greek post I should have expected it ;D

The Rover is now running on Diesel again after I drained 40ltrs of Unleaded out. I put the old petrol in a colleagues 1.8 Vectra :D but it seems to run ok which was a suprise, I was at least expecting and engine management light :-?

PS Wifey doesnt know so mums the word ::)

With all these clever ECU's around, why hasn't someone figured out a way of making an engine that will run on any fuel, eg if diesel, turn off the spark and compress until it fires, alternatively compress and spark as normal. Think, with all the technology and knowlege about, couldn't they sort out an engine that will run on any hydrocarbon fuel, even used chip fat ( or whisky if you are really stuck!) ?.

Don't need any sort of ECU... my 406 diesel ran on nothing but WVO (used chip fat)... collague does the same with a 405D...

Father in law had a diesel van, and a 2.5 petrol Cav
Lets just say there were a few opportunities to discover the cav would run on drained out diesely petrol, no problems.
Actually made it run better on one occasion!
