If i hit brakes hard, going over speed humps down dips in roads( these dips  :question are the worst), I get the dreaded clunking noises (I have changed the droplinks) seems to happen for a short while then all seems ok , also noticed that if it does clunk it needs to clunk again as if something is going back into place and all is well again for a while, don't get any wandering etc that is particularly noticeable, my suspicions are the wishbone bushes but can anyone confirm this.

Sounds like it, but could be strut or other probs.

Hi mate can't find any thing suspicious under the motor eveything seems tight ; there is some movement of the wishbone bushes if you lever them from top down ,but as they are rubber bushes it's a bit difficult to decide whether it's wear or just the compliance in the bushes certainly not excessive, keep wondering whether to get the bushes done or not as knowing my luck there'll be no change!!

When jacked up, can you get movement in the bushes by moving wheel? If so, they're knackered...

hopefully someone cleverer than me can help. wishbone bushes still most likely, but could be (rare), strut top bush, strut itself, roll bar bushes...

Old Cruiser, I changed the wishbones on mine to stop the clunking. It can't be that easy to spot the wear as it went through the MOT fine. My old man noticed it as I drove back and for against a pit board while he was watching from the pit.

Im sure this is normal.
I can definately remember Jimmy Saville saying "Clunk, Click, Every Trip"
