Dashboard Differences
« on: 12 June 2007, 15:01:50 »

Hi,

I have a 2ltr 16v Omega, on recent removal of the dashboard in attempt to fix the mid i noticed on the back a few of the strips on the circuit board are burnt out. I have got a new dash from a breakers and it displays differently, there is also noticable differences.

On the original when on 1/4 a tank of fuel 20ltrs, with the new dash it shows more 30/35 ltrs, Also the circuit board is green on the new one and brown on the old one.

Where the circuits have burnt out is above the temp gauge, although this seems to be working ok.

Now my question is are they different?? Do I have the extra fuel??? I dont want to put the new one in and think i have fuel, then run out, so am still using the old one till i know more.

Thanks in advance, Mark.  :y :y :y

Are they both pre facelift dashes?
Do the speedo's go to the same speed?

If you fill up completely. does the amount of fuel added correspond to what the dash shows what was left in the tank?

Yeah, i was told it was a 1995 car, it has 115000 on the clock,  both the speedos seem to be the same, but as far as filling it up, phew, £70, cannot do it at the mo..... Allthough when i put a tenner in it (this is in the old one) it goes up to 20ltr, when on the red, allthough petrol is near on a £1 a ltr, so should only register 10ltrs, Oh its all too complicated for my mind.

I will take some pics of em both and put em up.

I think you may need to make one out of the two.

You may to fill up and see what they read

I will have to save up my pennies to fill it up then.

The women who sold it said it was from the same car, but a year newer, so i assumed it would be the same.

I was wondering if it was down to the burnt bit throwing it out, and the new one being correct.

Anyway, thanks for all help so far, Mark.  :y

Just had a good look at em both, they have different part numbers, The old one is 90 457 947, The new (Green) one is 90 493 818.

Just called vauxhall re this, they good int they, aint got a clue, but if i take em down with the car and leave them there they will sort em out, yeah i bet they will at £HOW MUCH an hour.

Anyway, will let you all know the outcome, as it progresses.

Mark.

Right, there are 3 different types, all year dependent (pre min facelift, post minifacelift, facelift). Within diagnosable ones (mini facelift and faclift) there are 4 hardware variations (eg redline etc), and within this hardware variations, there are 4 software variations (tyres etc).  I would suspect the pre mini facelift ones have similar variations, albeit not adjustable, though the dials are interchangable in the early ones...

looking at photo of original the circuit tracks look OK damage seems to be scorching above 3 bulbs.
Are these warning light bulbs or dash illumination bulbs ? If everything is working could it be that someone has fitted to high wattage illuminatin bulbs at sometime which has scorched the surrounding area. If so would it be possible to just change MID over ?

I have edited the pic, starting from A the track is flaking and bubbled, when it gets to B is where it breaks.
